Welcome

Blaen y Glyn waterfall is within Talybont Forest in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

You can walk to Blaen y Glyn waterfall from two of our car parks.

Blaen y Glyn Isaf is the lower car park and Blaen y Glyn Uchaf is the upper car park.

There is a picnic bench in each car park.

Walking trails

You can walk to Blaen y Glyn waterfall from Blaen y Glyn Isaf (the lower car park) or Blaen y Glyn Uchaf (the upper car park).

The route from the lower car park is shorter and has less of a climb than the route from the upper cark park.

Lower Blaen y Glyn Waterfall Walk

  • Grade: Moderate
  • Distance: 0.8 miles/1.2 kilometres (there and back)
  • Time: 45 minutes

Upper Blaen y Glyn Waterfall Walk

  • Grade: Strenuous
  • Distance: 1 mile/1.6 kilometres (there and back)
  • Time: 1-1½ hours
  • Trail information: This linear walk to Blaen y Glyn waterfall is from Blaen y Glyn Uchaf (the upper car park). It is not waymarked - see the information panel in the car park for the suggested route. 

Beacons Way

You can join the Beacons Way long distance path from the Blaen y Glyn Uchaf car park.

Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park

Blaen y Glyn is in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

The National Park covers approximately 520 square miles of mountains and moorland in South and Mid Wales.

It is looked after by the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority.

Blaen y Glyn forms part of the National Forest for Wales.

The National Forest will:

  • create areas of new woodland
  • enhance existing woodlands
  • restore Wales’ irreplaceable ancient woodlands

It will form a connected ecological network running throughout Wales, bringing social, economic and environmental benefits.

Parts of the network will eventually form a trail running the length and breadth of Wales, so anyone can access it wherever they live.

We recommend you follow these directions or use the Google map below which has a pin on this place’s location.

Blaen y Glyn is 11½ miles south of Brecon.

Take the A40 from Brecon towards Abergavenny.

After 5 miles, turn right signposted towards Talybont on Usk.

At the T-junction, turn right towards Pencelli.

In the village turn left following the signs towards Talybont Reservoir.

Continue for 5¼ miles and the Blaen y Glyn Isaf car park is just after a stone bridge on the right.

For the Blaen y Glyn Uchaf car park continue for a further ¾ mile and the car park is on the right.
